Ozone

Ozone (O3), one of nature's most powerful oxidizing substances, is produced from oxygen (O2). Discovered at the end of the 19th century, ozone is formed naturally in the upper layer of the atmosphere and is also present after a thunderstorm.

A few facts about ozone :

Ozone is highly reactive, it converts quickly back into oxygen. For this reason it is not possible to bottle ozone safely.   The name ozone comes from the Greek word Ozein, which means smell. Ozone has a characteristic smell even at low concentrations. This smell is useful in detecting leaks, which aids in operator safety.   Ozone is the most powerful commercial disinfectant used to treat water. It is used in many water treatment facilities around the word. The majority of water bottling plants use ozone to treat the water you find on your grocery store shelves.   Ozone is also used to disinfect air and certain food products, it is USFDA and department of agriculture approved

The advantage of ozone over chlorine is ozone's disinfective strength, it's effectiveness in removing tastes and odors and the fact that it quickly disappears leaving no trace of chemical taste or odor like chlorine.

Expio's ozone generator technology

Most compact systems create ozone from air, which contains only a small percentage of oxygen. Expio produces ozone from dry medical oxygen, which greatly increases the ozone output of the system. This highly concentrated ozone gas is much more effective in treating high demand waters, like lake or river water. This is why Expio is capable of treating waters that small household systems couldn't touch.
